Calm at 4:30 A.M.

A calm moment at 4:30 A.M. That’s what time #DoMode starts for me on any given weekday. I awaken at the butt-crack of dawn to allow myself a little quiet time before the chaos of the day ensues. Once 5:45 a.m. rolls around, though, the quiet ceases to exist, and I switch into Mommy Mode. Breakfast, teeth brushing and face washing, getting dressed and LOTS of hair rangling fills our early morning, and once my crew is out the door, I eat, get focused and switch into Boss Mode.

Barring no midday school activities or emergencies, my day is spent on making shift happen in my business. From coaching clients to doing workshops to trying to gain exposure and trying to stay relevant, I stay in my Boss Zone until about 4:30 p.m. Once my Boss Mode shift is over, I slip on my Wifey/Mommy hat to finish out the day with homework, dinner, baths and bed for our girls. Depending on what I have going on, I may spend time with Hubby, get back to work for a little while and/or simply veg out. Once I venture into La La Land, it’s just wash, rinse and repeat for the next day.

The Wifey, Mommy & Hustler Challenge

To be honest, juggling the various parts of my life has been a struggle. As a career-oriented person, it’s sometimes difficult to turn off the seemingly endless hustle. Because I love what I do, I always want to spend all my time engrossed in it but I can’t lose sight of what matters most to me: God, Hubby and my girls and truly living life. I made a choice to marry an awesome man and have three wonderful little girls with him, and thus, my responsibility to them supersedes anything else … including this business.

I’ve learned (and am still learning), however, to fit my career into my life instead of the other way around. I won’t lie and say it’s easy because well … it’s not. I’ve learned to be intentional, making a conscious decision on the daily basis to prioritize because my success in all aspects of my life depends on it.
This is how I #DoMode on the daily, and I wouldn’t trade it for the world.
